RACE 2

Why are there so many races now? This few days are like WHOA...races after races... this will all end after 12 april 2006, The National Schools Cross-Country 2006. Haiz, don't it just sound so grand? But will we ever get a prize? The answer is a simple no.

Well today was not bad though. Started very sudden. It all happened very quicky. We went to report at the starting line. And the man just talked a bit of rubbish and BOOM. Off we went. Our race plan for today was simple. Stick together. So I sticked together with Hendy like glue. We never separated.( Don't think we are gays.) Even if someone was in front of us, we splitted to both sides and cross the person and rejoin back. It was funny but true. So together, with a slow and steady start, we managed to overtake people, who dashed at the start and are unable to keep the pace. Slowly, Wee Kiat came along and my primary schoolmate, Gary. I told myself," this is impossible. He cannot be in front of me!" So I left Hendy unknowingly in an attempt to catch with Gary.

And I managed to catch up. Maintaining that way, I continued running without Hendy beside me. Guessed he had stitch. Can't do anything about it. So eyeing the person in front, I quickened my pace again. Breathing heavily, the dry and hot air entered my throat evaporating every water droplet present. I gathered my saliva and swallowed it, hoping that it could dampened my throat. The interaction of both the dry surface n liquid amalyase created a excrutiating pain. Feeling much better, I continued chasing. It was not easy, but I managed to become neck to neck. Fatique sets in and again I felt weak. Slowing down by a bit, immediately 2 people overtook me. *jawdropped* What choice did I have? I was too tired to do anything. Noticing that I was reaching the destination, I started opening up my stride, increasing the frequency with every step I took. In just seconds, it was just the last stretch and me. Stepping into the cheering atmosphere, everyone starts running faster. Obviously I will not be an exception. So I started running faster. Gradually, it got faster and faster. Soon, it broke into a CHIONG. All the way to the end. *puking action* but nothing came out. The acidic feeling filled my mouth. Ahhh although that feeling was shitty but it sure felt familiar--the end of the race.

Timing- 17.43 for 4.8km( personal best)
Timing for school x-country- 18.22 for 4.8km

not a bad improvement I see? haha

to emily: maybe could have caught up with u with this timing? haha

Tomorrow...

Tomorrow. This is a simple word found in the dictionary with a simple meaning which is THE NEXT DAY.

Tomorrow, never get tricked by this word. It may sound good. Everything leave to tomorrow to do. As it is said by all parents,"Tomorrow never comes. You say tomorrow, tomorrow you say tomorrow again." Thus, that tomorrow of yours never comes. 35 years later, you will find yourself still saying "tomorrow".

When you say tomorrow... do you even know what would happen the next day? How do you know that you will have the time to do the things that was supposed to be done but was delayed by you to tomorrow? No one can tell...(well, maybe except GOD?) but you won't know, your friends won't know...

We should never leave things that are supposed to be done today tomorrow. Example: you did not complete your homework. So you told yourself that you will do it tomorrow morning when you reach school. Would you know that your bus will come on time? What happens if your teacher walks in and ask you to go help her. Time will be wasted and in the end you failed to complete your work. Hence, more work will be given and the work will pile up. Will it ever end?

Maybe some of you are thinking that why am I thinking about something so lame? But its something unavoidable. Right? Think about it...

The Race

on 8th march, it was our school cross-country race. Being in the track and field team, I was quite confident of getting the top 15 but I was still a bit nervous at the starting line. I did not know why of course. With Mr Paul Lim standing in front of me, I was even afraid that I may knock into him or maybe even trip him. Looking around, I saw many of my friends and run mates and a person who was extremely tall. WAHH!!! my heart started beating even faster... Then all of a sudden, the horn went BOOHHH....and everyone started raising their legs to move... I started sprinting off as well. I think I lagged a bit which delayed me, resulting in many people being in front of me already.
Siaming everyone in front of me, I ran to the grass as Mr Chew told me that it was better to run on the grass. Cutting many people, I got myself to the front, leading the whole crowd. That feeling was both GREAT but STRESSFUL. Who knows when you will get overtaken right?

part 2---the jungle...

As the leader all I could do was to run and look ahead. UNFORTUNATELY, I was overtaken by ZHI RONG, my minotaur teammate. After a while, Hendy overtook me as well and I was sad, a bit demoralised but I kept going as I knew I was able to catch up with them. Oh ya!!! Together with the two people was the guest runner... As we approached the BOYS-GIRLS split road, the gap between me and the group started to grow bigger. HOWEVER, I continued running, opening up my strides, taking bigger steps to close up the gap. As I got nearer to ZHI RONG, I started to run faster in order to overtake him. 1 down 2 more to go... THEN... I saw light! It was the opening of the jungle, which leads to the expressway, the tar road, the heat and hardness of the road!

part 3---the insolation of the SUN

As I struggled my way through all the small rocks and pebbles, I arrived on the hard land. I slowed down as I was already exhausted. AT THAT POINT, Min Zhang overtook me and zoomed pass me! I was like 'WAH, sian 1 down 1 increase...' so I continued running with the motivation from a marshal to catch up the guest runner. Passing the 1st bus stop, I got nearer to the guest runner. Out from no where, was the FEARFUL PRC!!! He was as good as walking as he 'walk' passed me... at the point, it was the battle of the fitest between the 3 of us... the guest runner, the PRC and the person who got 3rd...haha. With his HUGE strides, the PRC overtook both of us in just a matter of STEPS. I tried pacing him and we both overtook the guest runner.

Soon, the space between the PRC and me started opening up. I was tired, fatique overwhelmed me as I struggled to continue running. I was slowly fading off... Focusing, I tried to concentrate and started running even faster... At the 3rd and last bus stop, I saw Mdm Lalitha who was cheering for me!!! With that morale booster, I gathered my last bit of strength and started opening up my steps... I saw Min Zhang getting closer to me and tried to chase him. I got closer to him everytime I put my feet on the ground. Down the slope and up again... At the steep and long up slope, I managed to catch up with Min Zhang and I showed the 'GOOD' sign with my hands and continued on. Finishing the up slope, I was left with just the downslope.

part 4----the LAST stretch _______

ALL OF A SUDDEN, it started to get noisy, with all the cheering and everything...it sure did gave me the energy to finish up the last stretch with all the might I had. At that point, I DASH DOWN THE SLOPE, running as fast as I could. Everything around me all remained blur as I could not concentrate on so many things at that moment. All I heard was noise. With my spectacles bouncing up and down, I finished the race!!!! Despite the nauseous feeling within me, I felt a sense of achievement!! 3rd was what I got...

All the results are out except english, which is erm...as usual. Well apart from HCL which is 1st from the back, the rest is pretty good. haha.

Every Sunday is a boring day. Can anyone give suggestions other than doing homework?
